Therapy Styles:
My training has taught me , first and foremost, that therapy is a creative, joint effort between therapist and client. I work intuitively and believe my role, whether we use talk, movement or art, is to provide support, guidance, compassionate listening and to create a safe space for you to explore and express your feelings. I consider anything that is of concern to you appropriate for that exploration. Though I may offer suggestions and give feedback, I believe ultimately that you are the expert about your life. I will invite you to share yourself through dreams, stories from your childhood and tales from the here and now. I am also a group therapist. I believe that through relationship and the power of human connection, we can heal and awaken the process for transformation, self-acceptance, and create more possibilities for joy. And finally, I believe that all of our experiences are shaped through the lenses of race, sex, class, sexual orientation, age and culture.

Areas of Expertise:
My clients tend to be people who suffer from self-defeating patterns, developed in response, to wounding relationships and learned self-cruelty. While some seek healthier, happier relationships with their partners or family members and others long for relief from conflicting emotions and negative thoughts, all want to reclaim themselves and live in the fullest expression of who they are. As a collaborator in your healing process,I offer you my genuine acceptance, a wholehearted engagement and the ability to embrace the humor in life as well as the pathos. Together we will work to unearth your sweet, lost self, and make room for you to shine. Whether you choose to work individually, as a couple, or part of an ongoing therapy group, I believe that you get to be as big and powerful as you want to be. Your happiness matters.

Other information:

I have a special interest in working with twins, parents of gay sons or daughters, women or men in mid-life transitions and artists who feel they have lost touch with their own creativity.
I have an affinity for these folks because I am a twin, the proud mother of two children, one who is gay, a woman in mid-life and an artist who has struggled to stay connected to the creator within.
I believe that it is never too late to begin the process of healing and wholeness.
And finally, as Marcel Proust so eloquently said, "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes."
