Therapy Styles:
My theoretical orientation is a combination of several different approaches. I have had considerable training and experience in psychodynamic, interpersonal, and family systems approaches. I work to help clients reach their goals by listening carefully to and understanding present problems. I help clients identify and explore problematic patterns that occur in their lives, understand how and why these patterns have developed, and discover how to go about modifying them. The therapy process involves exploring feelings, perceptions, and beliefs about oneself and others in daily life as well as in therapy. I offer my impressions regarding present interpersonal or thought patterns to help clients recognize and change patterns that cause symptoms, and/or interfere with health, happiness and life satisfaction.

Areas of Expertise:
I work with women, men, adolescents, and couples struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship difficulties, and/or working toward personal growth, self-exploration, and relationship enhancement. I specialize in helping women and couples work through the emotional and psychological issues related to medical problems including infertility, high-risk pregnancy, peripartum loss, postpartum depression, cancer, adjustment to parenting, and other issues.

Other information:

I received my Doctoral and Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Utah. I completed a pre-doctoral internship at Northwestern University Medical School, and a post-doctoral fellowship with specializations in Psychotherapy and in Women’s Reproductive Medicine at Northwestern University Medical School.
